Major Network Expansion Fortune
100 Company
After experiencing 10 years of phenomenal growth and success, a major pharmaceutical company, a multi-billion Fortune 100 company and the world’s largest and most successful biotech pharmaceutical company, had a challenge. As the fastest growing company in the United States, the rapid pace of change in information technologies, compounded by the unbridled deployment of new applications and services, was putting tremendous pressure on the global network. The existing network was being pushed to the limits, and the multi-vendor environment was increasingly hard to manage. In order to scale and meet the challenge, a new network was needed. This network would have to provide the capacity, reliability, scalability, security and efficiency that would satisfy the demands of 25,000 plus computing devices worldwide, as the company continued to grow organically and acquire other biotechnology companies.
Funding was approved, and a team was assembled to tackle the challenge. The goal was to design and implement a new single-vendor network (with minimal exceptions) that would support all existing and future data, voice and video applications, and provide a much-needed boost in performance and capability. In addition, it had to be deployed transparently with virtually no downtime.
The entire program was a huge success. Ahead of schedule and under budget, with virtually no downtime, the team replaced hundreds of routers and switches, and upgraded cabling and fiber. All access, distribution and core layer connections were increased by an order of magnitude. New inventory management, monitoring, troubleshooting and reporting capabilities were introduced and distributed globally. Supports for traffic shaping, quality of service, multicast and applications prioritization were implemented. And finally, a completely new enterprise network test lab was created to test and support future applications development and new network services.
As a result, the company was positioned for future expansion, growth and in a cost effective approach. This network design enhanced the bottom line while not sacrificing creativity, deliverables and profit to the investors.

Sales Channel Development

Corporate Restructure Broadcast Quality (HDTV) Video and Data Communications Company
How do you take a Fortune 500 Company Division who has obtained 90% industry leadership in their products and services and make them profitable after 7 years of non-profitability?
That was the challenge and with it came a complete restructuring of the Division. First we had to take a look at the business plan, industry position, products, services and where the industry was migrating to. From a sales stand point, the compensation plan did not match the business plan. Products were industry leading however the lead times were excessive on delivered products and services. Reliability of the products were less than established design criteria for the reputation of the parent company. The Division was in serious trouble and a complete restructuring was the only way to protect the Parent Companies reputation and return this Division to profitability.
Our team, did a comprehensive review of all departments and developed a comprehensive approach to saving the Division. First, we secured a committed approach from all department heads and the executive management teams. We then took the business plan and matched it with the sales compensation plan for the first touch employees. We looked at the manufacturing department and the ROI for new equipment which would build a better product to serve their customer needs. Engineering was engaged to design more reliable products with maximum reliability and reduced customer service. The service organization was enhanced during the transition with equipment depots and additional personnel across the world.
As a result, the company was positioned for future expansion, growth and profitability with our teams approach. The improvements were measured and in 19 months when the Division maintained its 90% market share, became the second most profitable Division out of 40 in the parent company.
The Division had also increased its year over year sales buy 309% and had to increase its employee count from 66 employees to 132 employees to keep up with the demand for its products and services.
